MojNews-Iranian revolutionary singer Jamshid Jam passed away at 72. 

Iranian singer Jamshid Jam, famous for his revolutionary song “Yar-e Dabestani-e Man” (literally meaning My Grade-School Friend), passed away on January 31.

The vocalist, who was suffering from heart disease for a while, died of cardiac arrest at the age of 72.

Composed by Mansour Tehrani, “Yar-e Dabestani-e Man” is a reminder of the days of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and remains one of the symbols of the students’ movements in Iran.

Jam entered the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) after the victory of the Islamic Revolution. He was a radio presenter, writer, editor, and producer and was mostly active in producing music-oriented programs.

He had a program called “Anthems and Tars” on Radio Tehran, which was broadcast for about 10 years. He was also engaged in research in the field of music history for many years.

Among his popular musical works, there was the album “Victory” with 10 tracks, all of which were sung by Jam.

Moreover, for several years, he wrote cultural and artistic articles and sometimes movie and theater reviews in the press.

In 2010, Jam released a song for the Palestinian people, in which he composed Arabic music and sang Persian lyrics to show solidarity between Iranians and Palestinians.
