US Senator:
Biden should tighten sanctions against Iran
Opposing the Vienna talks, the head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee called for tougher sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
MojNews_ Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, called on the Biden administration to step up sanctions against Iran and companies that do business with the United States.
In his speech, while expressing dissatisfaction with the increase in Iran۳۹;s oil imports from China, he said:
China is buying Iranian oil at a discount. Last year, China bought ۳۵۰,۰۰۰ to ۶۵۰,۰۰۰ barrels of crude a day from Iran, which equates to $ ۱۰ billion being transferred to Iran, in violation of current sanctions.
He then called on the Biden government to pursue a new policy to counter Iran۳۹;s nuclear and missile program and activities in the region, and to intensify sanctions against Iran and its companies.
The Democratic senator continued in this regard:
Biden۳۹;s government should impose sanctions on Iran and target Chinese companies dealing with Iran in such a way that they incur heavy costs.
He did not limit his request to the Biden government and called on the negotiating parties and the European Union to impose sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran.
We urge the P۵ + ۱ to activate the trigger mechanism for the implementation of sanctions against Iran based on the JCPOA parameters.
Bob Menendez went on to call on the European Union to violate JCPOA laws, saying:
We call on the European Union to re-impose previous sanctions on Iran.
