MojNews_ Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri underlined that the deterrence power of the country۳۹;s Armed Forces will be further enhanced to dissuades Tehran’s enemies from implementing the their threats against Iran.
Addressing a gathering of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Force commanders in the holy city of Mashhad on Thursday, Major General Baqeri stated that the Iran’s Armed Forces are working to achieve the highest level of deterrence in the face of the threats posed by enemies to rid them of even the dream of launching an act of aggression against Tehran.
“We have set the goal of reaching the peak of deterrence so that the enemies will not have the courage to even dream about attacking Iran,” he added.
“With Iran turning threats into opportunities, the so-called pillars of the enemy’s maximum pressure have collapsed one after another, and the role of armed forces, among other factors, was very important and decisive in this regard,” the high-ranking Iranian military official stated.
The major general noted that the Iranian Ground Forces play a fundamental role in establishment of sustainable deterrence, promotion of durable security in the country and along border areas, support for the resistance front, and frustration of the enemy۳۹;s strategies.
The top commander further praised the role of martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the anti-terror icon, in the regional fight against the Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS) terror group.
Had it not been for the successful struggles of General Soleimani and his companions against Daesh in Iraq and Syria, Iran would have now been a neighbor to the Takfiri terror group and bitter developments would have been unfolding in the two Arab states, he noted.
General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran۳۹;s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and his Iraqi trenchmate Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Units, were targeted along with their companions in January ۲۰۲۰ in a terror drone strike authorized by then-US President Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport.
"A review of the events over the past three years shows that accomplishments like the downing of the enemy’s strategic drone, successful missions of Iranian Armed Forces in land and sea operations across the region, victorious campaign against Daesh Takfiri terrorists, establishment of lasting security in the country and along its borders, and promotion of Iran’s power in missile, drone, naval and ground sectors have all played an effective role in failure of the enemy," Major General Baqeri added.
His remarks came just days after US President Joe Biden boasted that Washington may use force to counter Iran۳۹;s nuclear energy program as a "last resort".
In response, Iranian Armed Forces Spokesman Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi warned the US and the Israeli regime against any adventurist move in the region, and stated that they will be forced to pay a heavy price in case of their slightest mistake.
"The Americans and the Zionists know very well that they will pay the price for using the phrase ۳۹;resorting to force۳۹; against the Islamic Republic of Iran," General Shekarchi warned.
Iran has repeatedly warned that any mistake by the US and Israel will be met with Tehran۳۹;s crushing response.
Iranian officials say Washington and Tel Aviv are well aware of Tehran’s capabilities and capacities, and caution that Tehran does not compromise or joke with its national security.
