The US State Department agrees with $2.2B arms sale to Taiwan
The U.S. Department of State has approved $2.2B arms sale to Taiwan. This move happens while China has repeatedly urged the US to not support Taipei by weapons.
MojNews- The U.S. Department of State has approved an arms sale of estimated $۲.۲ billion to Taiwan , the Pentagon said on Monday, despite China ’s criticism of the deal.
Taiwan, when the deal goes through, will procure ۲۵۰ Stinger missiles, ۱۰۸ Abrams tanks and equipment.
The move came at a time when the U.S. and China has recently -- during G۲۰ summit in Japan --taken a step back from the vicious trade war that has been shaking the economic balance of both countries for over a year.
China regards Taiwan as part of its territory in line with its One China policy .
Last month, China۳۹;s Foreign Ministry had urged the U.S. to not proceed with the "extremely sensitive and damaging" decision.
