MojNews- Iraq on Monday confirmed the first case of the coronavirus in the country’s Najaf city.

Ridvan Kindi, the head of the Health Department in Najaf city in south of capital Baghdad, said an Iranian student has tested positive for the coronavirus, officially known as COVID-۱۹.

The student was immediately quarantined and necessary measures were taken, Kindi said.

The coronavirus has sounded global alarm with China reporting ۲,۵۹۲ deaths from the outbreak on Monday with over ۷۷,۰۰۰ confirmed cases.
