Iran Runs Hundreds of New Centrifuges
The UN nuclear agency has been informed of Iran’s plan to operate hundreds of new centrifuge machines, including the IR-6 generation, for uranium enrichment, the spokesperson for the Atomic Energy Agency of Iran said.
MojNews_ In comments at a televised interview on Monday night, Behrouz Kamalvandi said the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has been ordered in the evening to bring into operation hundreds of new centrifuges, including the IR-۱ and advanced IR-۶ machines.
The International Atomic Energy Agency has been informed about the new decision, he added, saying the new centrifuges have come into service in accordance with the ‘Strategic Action’ on lifting the sanctions and safeguarding national interests, ratified by the Parliament in October ۲۰۲۰, and to fulfill the country’s need for a minimum uranium enrichment capacity of ۱۹۰,۰۰۰ Separative Work Units (SWUs).
The centrifuges have already been installed, Kamalvandi said, adding that the process of coming into service of ۵۰۰ IR-۶ machines will take ۱۰ to ۱۵ days.
