Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Oji and Algeria’s Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab signed a document to cooperate in the oil and gas sector in the Algerian capital Algiers on Sunday.
The two ministers inked the document in the presence of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Five more documents were signed by the two countries’ officials to cooperate in the fields of science, technology, economy, sports, tourism, and media as well as the knowledge-based sector.
Heading a high-ranking economic and political delegation, Reisi arrived in Algiers on Saturday morning and delivered a speech at the 7th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit of Heads of State and Government later in the day.
Earlier on Sunday, the two presidents held a joint press conference, during which Raisi said Iran and Algeria are determined to expand their economic, commercial, and political relations.
The 7th Summit of GECF Member Countries Heads of State and Government convened in the historic city of Algiers, the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, on 2 March 2024.
During the summit, the leaders approved the Algiers Declaration in the spirit of solidarity and cooperation.
The summit brought together heads of state and government from member countries, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela, from observer members, namely Angola, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Malaysia, Mauritania, Mozambique, and Peru, as well Italy, Oman, Senegal, and Tunisia as guest countries.
