Italian film festival hosts Iranian shorts

Six Iranian short movies and animations are on screen in different sections of the 25th edition of the International Festival Corti da Sogni - Antonio Ricci, which is currently underway in the Italian city of Ravenna.
“In the Shadow of Cypress” by Hossein Molayemi, “The Steak” by Kiarash Dadgar Mohebi, “Katvoman” by Hadi Sheibani and “The Gold Teeth” by Alireza Kazemipur are among the films competing at the festival.
“In the Shadow of Cypress” portrays an aging sailor grappling with post- traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Living with his daughter in a modest seaside home, their relationship has grown distant. Despite the captain's deep desire to be a devoted and caring father, he finds himself unable to fulfill his role and connect with his daughter in the way that he longs to. One morning, their lives take an unexpected turn.
In the eight-minute flick “The Steak,” a birthday ceremony preparation gets upside down as something horrible takes place.
An Iranian-Indian joint film, “Katvoman” shows a mom and son playing dressed up as Batman and Catwoman before dad returns for dinner. Through the play, the child discovers a difficult truth about his parents.
“The Gold Teeth” is about an Afghan refugee in Canada, who asks a refugee dentist to extract her late father’s gold teeth before they bury him.
“Spider-Zan” by Maryam Khodabakhsh and “Footprint” by Mustafa Alami are also on screen at the festival, which will come to an end on April 20.
