FIFA President Gianni Infantino has sent heartfelt condolences to the Iranian people following passing of the country’s President Ebrahim Raisi.

Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and their companions lost their lives following a tragic chopper crash on Sunday.

“It’s with great sadness that I learned about the tragic demise of President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi. We had met last year in New York and discussed how to promote football in Iran. I send my sincere condolences to the people of Iran at this difficult time,” Infantino posted on his Instagram account.
